SOME OF OUR FAVORITE SUPPLIERS
WILD CROPS FARM
"Goods From The Woods (owners of Wild Crops Farm) started working to demonstrate solutions to environmental problems resulting from poor use of natural resources in the early-1990s. We do not strip the forest. There is no roller chopping, skidding, or destruction on our lands. We are fair trade, 100% organic, alcohol free. Our material is not ‘boiled’ to death in a water base, steam is forced through the biomass, providing high quality extraction. We slow steam distill and test every batch. We use custom-crafted, glass and stainless steel equipment, built to our specifications."
"Global Mamas is the brand name for goods produced by small women-owned businesses in Ghana; it is recognized by the government of Ghana as an NGO and in the United States as a certified non-profit organization. Women in Progress (WIP), an international non-profit organization, supports the women of Global Mamas in attaining economic independence by coordinating a network of volunteers and interns that supply Global Mamas with valuable skills and creative resources. All proceeds from the sales of Global Mamas products go directly to the women producing the merchandise and to the development programs that assist the women in expanding their businesses. We believe that helping women gain economic independence is the most effective way to reduce dependence on foreign aid and steadily create a prosperous society. WFTO, FTF and COFTA accepted Global Mamas to their ranks only after conducting a thorough investigation that ensured the African women who comprise the Global Mamas network of producers are the primary beneficiaries of the proceeds from product sales."
MAINE SEA SALT
"At Maine Sea Salt Company, we believe that the cool, mineral-rich saline waters of the Gulf of Maine provide our natural sea salts with a unique flavor. As the first salt works in Maine in over 200 years, our company brings forward the tradition of harvesting pure and natural sea salt, directly from the source…the ocean! We make our sea salt naturally, through the evaporation and reduction of sea water in solar green houses and shallow pools. We extract our sea salt from ocean water…naturally! Our solar greenhouses, known as ‘salt houses’ are filled with fresh sea water from the Gulf of Maine. Sea salt crystals are formed over time from the effects of natural solar evaporation and wind. We do not wash or bleach our natural salt at any time during the solar production process. therefore, the nutritious trace minerals naturally occurring in sea water are retained in our products. We also do not use chemicals or drying agents."
